Below are some frequently asked questions that have come up a few times regarding MaMa Conference. We thought that it would be helpful to answer some of them here! Please also read our terms and conditions
Q. What does MaMa stand for? A.MaMa means 'Mothers And Midwives Alliance'. We believe that to make a positive difference we must work to create change together as one group, the following quote sums up our company ethos perfectly:
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has" Widely attributed to Margaret Mead (1901-1978) although disputed.
Q. Can I buy a ticket at the door on the day? A. Unfortunately not. Our catering and room set up for sessions is pre-planned and booked.
Q. Is lunch, tea & coffee included in the ticket price? A. Tea, coffee and pastries or cakes are provided on arrival in the morning, mid morning and mid afternoon on each day. Lunch is also included on both days. Please contact us with any special dietary requirements you may have.
Q. Can I take photos or make film recordings during the conference? A. You are welcome to take photos during the conference but please be considerate of the speakers and other delegates if you are using a flash. Please do not make any kind of film recording.
Q. Can MaMa Conference give me copies of the speakers presentations? A. Each speaker supplies their own work for presentation and this remains the personal property of the individual speaker. Unless MaMa Conference has been given a presentation by the speaker specifically for distribution to delegates, either before or after the conference, we can not under any circumstances provide this to delegates.
Q. My friend and I both want to come to the conference for one day each, can we share a ticket? A. Conference tickets can not be shared under any circumstances. Each ticket is sold PER individual delegate. If we have any room left the week before the conference then there may be the chance to buy a single day, but we cant guarantee that we will have any space left. In 2013 Photo ID will be provided to delegates on the first day of registration.
Q. We would like to contact one of your speakers directly, can MaMa Conference give me their email/phone number/home address? A. We at MaMa Conference treat our delegates AND our speakers privacy with the utmost care. Under terms of the Data Protection Act (1998) we are unable to provide third parties with any personal details of delegates or speakers, nor do we contact them on behalf of other groups or organisations. Please don't ask us to do so because we will say no!
Q. Will there be a published delegate list available to delegates and/or exhibitors? A. We do not provide delegates or exhibitors with names of delegates. Without the express consent of each individual this would be a breach of the Data Protection Act (1998). We have no intentions to seek this consent for the benefit of third parties.
Q. Can I bring my child/children to the conference? A. Unfortunately we can not cater for children under the age of 16 at our conference, however, if you are breastfeeding a baby up to the age of 12 months you are still welcome to attend with them. We do request, however, that you respect the needs of the other delegates in attendance & immediately leave the conference/session room should your baby become noisy or disruptive. (please bear in mind that the 2013 venue is not suitable for prams or pushchairs)
Q. I am coming as an exhibitor, do I need to buy a delegate ticket too? A. In 2013 there will be no provision for 'exhibitor only' space at the conference, all exhibitors and those who will work on their stall must also purchase a delegate ticket, there will be no exceptions to this. Exhibition staff will not be allowed to share their delegate ticket with other staff either.
Q. Can my friend pop into one of the sessions instead of me?or with me if there is space, they don't want to come to the whole conference. A. Unfortunately in the past we have had problems with some delegates inviting their friends along to 'pop in' which resulted in some paying delegates not being able to find a seat! as a result only those who have purchased a full conference delegate ticket will be allowed into any part of the conference. Any individual who brings in another person who has not bought a delegate ticket will be asked to leave immediately, along with their friend!
